Samana’s Carnival

It is celebrated in February in all towns in the province of Samaná and has a large popular participation. The neighbors of the people take to the streets to the sound of music, dancing happily. During this time the carnival romaneases “heat” for the great day of the main cavalcade of each population.  Santa Barbara de Samana’s Carnival numerous troupes come from various towns in the province, further enriching the traditional festival. Color, music and joy are the flags of the carnival of the province. This popular celebration is widely accepted and it is welcome all visitors who want to integrate.

On Lemon highlights the troupe called “The Infernal Horses”. The villagers take to the streets to the sound of music crossing it up and down dancing merrily.

Las Galeras Beach

The beach of Las Galeras is one of the most visited in the extreme east of the Samaná.

Its waters are usually calm and fine white sand. Cabo Samaná Natural Monument

Cabo Samaná Natural Monument covers most tip juts into the sea in the Eastern sector of the Samaná Peninsula.
The coastal landscape is extremely rugged and mountainous, with cliffs and impressive jarda or parallel to the coast that still retains the primary forest area in most of its length cliff.
The protected area stretches along about 6 km. West direction, covering an area of ​​9.5 square kilometers.

La Laguna del Diablo

La Laguna del Diablo ( The Devil’s Mouth lagoon ) is a chasm cave located on the edge of the cliff of Cape Samaná.
Is unique in that connects to the sea, many meters below where the chasm opens in the top of the cliff.
When the waves crash against the cliff, at the base of the cave, the water rises to the top pressure by displacing the air and causing a characteristic roar that is overwhelming.

Laguna Cristal

Laguna Cristal  (The crystal lagoon) is bordering the Los Haitises National Park, at the end of Glass, Barracote tributary of river stream.

San Juan River

It is a river that crosses Samaná  from south to north and ends at the beach of the valley, forming a barrel of great beauty surrounded by mangroves in part of its route. El Limón River

It is the main river in the area and one of the most important of  Samaná.
The river runs through the center of the village of El Limón; It maintains its flow throughout the year and at its mouth there is an extensive beach facing a cove opens.
The river has important gallery forests in various parts of the course as well as waterfalls and pools of great aesthetic beauty.

Rincón Bay

Located between the Cabo Cabrón and Cape Samaná, undoubtedly the Rincón Bay has one of the most beautiful beaches in the insular Caribbean.
It has a beach more than two kilometers, sand fund over a hundred meters and a generally calm to be very protected from winds waters.
The whole beach is flanked by an impressive mass of coconut trees and still have not developed homes and hotels in its environment.

El Ermitaño Beach

El Limón Beach

El Limón Beach  is an excellent sand strip 2,500 meters long that develops between the Coquitos tip and the mouth of the  Limón River.
